Purpose
In 2023, Tauhei Combined School were successful in their application to the Waikato Environmental Education Fund regarding their Tauhei Bush School. Quoting from the Tauhei Bush School webpage:
The purpose of a bush school is so that children can learn to manage risks, have more independence in guiding their own learning, to be active, experience nature and the outdoors in their own local setting, and to play and learn through direct experience within nature.
Overview
An excerpt from the Tauhei Bush School - Information Overview:
The Tauhei Bush School will take place every Friday at Pukemokemoke (during Term 1 and 4). Our aim will be to have every student take part every week, and grow their learning further in an outdoor environment that is rich in contextualised learning. The sessions will be planned, days structured to meet key learning objectives, and learning will be led by Team Tauhei teachers, with the opportunity to have support from community helpers as well as teachers from various environments and professions.
